Prototype History

The Buckfastleigh, Totnes & South Devon Railway was authorised by parliament on 25 June 1864 and a second Act of Parliament on 26 May 1865 authorised an extension to Ashburton.

Opened on 1 May 1872

Local coach merchant Mr Mann, local coal and graim merhanct was Mr Tuxworth.
